Have you ever wondered how Coca-Cola become the most recognized brand in the world? How Coca-Cola is dominating the world of soft drinks for nearly about 150 years? Even if you ever make a clone product like Coca-Cola you will never be able to compete against it. Have you ever pondered over the cause of this? In this instance, let's take a voyage through the past and current marketing strategies of Coca-Cola.

The history of Coca-Cola:

So, the story of Coca-Cola begins in 1880, when a group of doctors were attempting to create their own medicinal concoction. Contrarily, these concoction were nothing more than a hazardous chemical that was marketed as a medical remedy. Later, in 1884, John Pemberton, a veteran and scientist, created the French Wine Coca, a beverage made from kola nuts and coca leaf (which is also known as cocaine).

Although the French Wine Coca was a tremendous hit, the government immediately moved to outlaw all alcoholic beverages. John Pemberton switched the drink out for some fizzy water to get around this challenge. He added sugar to the carbonated water because it had no flavor and needed flavor. However, he also altered the drink's name, which is now known as Coca-Cola, as a result of the alteration in its composition.

Marketing strategy of Coca-Cola

Now let us discuss about how Coca-Cola is the most recognized in the world. Before the death of John Pemberton in 1888, he sold his company to Asa Candler. As Candler wanted to have the full control over the company, he started to buy the shares from other people too.

After purchasing the company from John Pemberton, Candler rebranded Coca-Cola as a soothing beverage and re-invested the profits from the sale of the soda into advertising.

World War 2 was one of the best things that happened for Coca-Cola. During World War II, sugar was rationed, and Coca-Cola asked the government for a waiver so they could call Coke a “Wartime product”. The government agreed, and Coke could be called that. After this, soldiers in uniform could buy Coca-Cola for only 5 cents.

Later, they ran an advertising campaign promoting and demonstrating the connection between soldiers and patriotism.

How Coca-Cola became a billion-dollar brand?

Let us now look at how Coca-Cola become the billion-dollar firm? How did Coca-Cola become the world's most known brand despite only selling sugar water?

To start, many of you have heard that Coca-Cola has a secret recipe formula that they keep hidden. But it's not the formula that makes Coca-Cola so popular. But then how they became the most sold drinks in the world?

The solution lies in the global advertising strategy for Coca-Cola. Coca-Cola has a slogan that reads, "Get them while they're young, and they'll be our customers for life."

Coca-Cola has almost paid for more than 10,000 schools that didn't have enough money to run. And these funds aren't for a good cause. In exchange for these funds, school officials made a deal with Coca-Cola that all vending machines in schools could only sell Coca-Cola

Besides, Coca-Cola spends billions of dollars every year advertising its product with athletes in order to send the notion that drinking its product is the healthy way to live.

Again, Coca-Cola has been an emotive brand since its inception, and its entire brand is designed to appeal to people's emotions. Have you ever wondered why?

Because Coca-Cola recognizes that emotional branding builds customer loyalty. To connect with customers, the corporation exploits emotions in its marketing. Emotional branding helps you create a favorable brand image, which impacts your business.

Conclusion

To summarize, Coca-Cola has succeeded in becoming the most recognizable brand thanks to its astute marketing strategies and emphasis on the youth demographic. And because of these marketing methods, they have maintained their position as the dominant player in the world of soft drinks over the course of the past 150 years. Moreover, Coke has a dedicated fan base.

In addition, Coca-Cola is the drink that we use as a pick-me-up throughout the day. Even as I type this entry into my blog, I have a glass of Coca-Cola in my hand.
